Admittedly, I got a little excited when rumors swirled about Of Mice & Men's former frontman Austin Carlile joining Linkin Park in place of Chester Bennington.
It's a great fit, but sadly, it's not true.
WHAT STARTED THE RUMORS:
Carlile just got out of the hospital after being treated for his Marfan's Syndrome, then put out the following on Instagram and Twitter...

So OBVIOUSLY everyone thought he was joining Linkin Park at this point... but....
Chester is one in a billion. There's no way myself or anyone else for that matter would ever be able to replace him. Performing "Faint" every night on our European tour together & festivals stateside, was one of the most special memories of my career. New project, yes. LP, no.— Austin Carlile (@austincarlile) August 29, 2018
Linkin Park confirmed it too, so sadly, we're not getting a Carlile-fronted incarnation of LP. BUT, we do have him singing "Faint" with the guys back in 2014 as an eternal "what if," and DAMN would it have been awesome!
