Third arrest made in fatal New Year’s Day shooting

A third arrest has been made in connection to a fatal shooting in south Wichita on New Year’s Day.

The latest suspect in the case is a 21-year-old woman. She’s been booked into jail for first-degree murder, robbery, and gang recruitment. This woman is identified as the sister of another suspect in death of 22-year-old Gabriel Campos-Torres. He was found outside a home near Lincoln and Ida, and police determined he’d actually been shot at a home two blocks to the east.

At time of their arrest, the two other suspects in the case were 16 and 18-years-old. They have each been charged with second-degree murder.

Although police have not released details on an exact motive for this shooting, they say it was not random.
