KDOL Updates Info On Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program

The Kansas Department of Labor announced that the amount of maximum benefits under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program (PUA) have been increased from 39 weeks to 50 weeks.

To file for additional weeks, log on to your unemployment benefits claim.

PUA expands access to unemployment for those who lost their jobs as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic and are not eligible for Unemployment Insurance or Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensations benefits.

This includes people who are gig workers, self-employed, independent contractors, or employees of a religious organization. It also applies to those who like sufficient work history or have been disqualified from receiving state benefits.

The PUA program expires on March 13th, 2021–however if you receive a PUA payment for the week ending March 13th, you may be eligible for the phase-out period. This means you may continue to collect PUA through April 10th, 2021.
