Through a partnership with Indian Health Services, Hunter Health will begin providing both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to the Indigenous Peoples Community aged 55 and older beginning on Tuesday, January 19th.
They will be by appointment only on a first-come, first-served basis at the Central Clinic at 527 N. Grove in Wichita.
There will be no out-of-pocket cost to receive the vaccine, and you do not need to be a current patient of the Hunter Health. Individuals will need to provide Native American verification.
According to an analysis published by the CDC (http://bit.ly/2XVHjBP), American Indian and Alaska Native people have died as a result of COVID-19 or COVID-19 related complications at nearly twice the rate of white people in a sample of 14 states.
Native Americans aged 55 and up can call (316) 262-2415 from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment.
