Kansas corrections officials said Monday that one resident at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility has tested positive for COVID-19.   The resident is a man over age 30, and he was recently transferred to Hutchinson as a security precaution due to his behavior at the Lansing Correctional Facility.

The inmate was taken to the infirmary in Hutchinson and was never put into the general population.  When his diagnosis was confirmed, he was transferred back to Lansing for observation and treatment.  No other information has been released.

Corrections officials also reported Monday that a third death has been reported at Lansing.  The case involved a man over age 50 who tested positive on May 1st.   He was serving an 85-month sentence for crimes including aggravated indecent liberties with a child.  He had been in the prison system since July, 2018.   His name has not been released.
