Sedgwick County identifies new coronavirus cluster

Sedgwick County identifies new coronavirus cluster

A Wichita senior care facility has been identified as a new cluster of COVID-19 activity.

Sedgwick County health officials issued a press release with Chisholm Place, announcing that 32 residents and four staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus.  Two residents have died.

Chisholm Place vice president Laura Kislowski said in the release that seven residents tested positive in recent weeks, and on April 23rd the facility began testing all residents and discovered an additional 25 residents with positive results.

The county health department has been working with the facility on protocols and supplies of personal protective equipment.   County health director Adrienne Byrne said the department is continuing to monitor and protect residents and staff.

The county has identified at least eight clusters of coronavirus activity.
