The Salvation Army wants to help anyone in the Wichita area whose income has been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

To feed people who may be having a hard time affording food, meal boxes are being handed out on Wednesday, April 29. This is happening at the Salvation Army’s downtown Wichita branch, at 3rd and Market. Food will be handed out starting at 10 a.m., at the big Red Kettle on Market, just south of 3rd. This will run to 1 p.m. or until supplies run out.

“We have been serving in Wichita for over 130 years, and we will continue to do what we can, in the best way we know how… where there is a need…The Salvation Army will be there. Today we are providing food for our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity”, stated Wichita City Commander, Major James Curl.

Because of the current pandemic, food is being delivered curbside to cars that pull up. No walk-ups will be allowed. The Salvation Army is asking people who plan to attend to be patient with staff while food is being distributed.

There is no ID requirement to get food.
