Wichita churches asked to ring bells for essential workers

Chapel Hill United Methodist Church is asking churches across Wichita to ring their bells to show support for essential workers and first responders.

Starting Thursday, April 23, Chapel Hill United Methodist will be ringing its bells for five minutes, starting a 7 p.m., and the church plans to continue doing this each day until this pandemic is over. Churches across Wichita are urged to join in to show support across the city.

“This is one simple way all of us can show our support for the important role front line workers play in our community – whether they be health providers caring for those who are sick, those who work in the retail sector stocking our shelves with food or preparing it in our restaurants, or other essential workers,” says Reverend Jeff Gannon. “Front line workers are critical to us during this time of crisis and we want to show them how much we appreciate them each and every day.”
