The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports there are 2,211 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state.

That’s 186 new cases since Tuesday, as the state continues to increase testing, especially in western Kansas where the majority of the state’s meat packing industry is located.  In Ford County, there are now 208 cases.

The state wants to insure the virus doesn’t slow or halt production which could cause problems for the nation’s food supply.  So far it has not had an impact.

There are now 110 deaths statewide since the outbreak began.  In Sedgwick County there are 295 cases with five deaths.   143 people in the county have recovered.

Reno County has reported its 16th case of the virus.  The rest of the counties surrounding Sedgwick remain unchanged in the number of cases.

Johnson County is about to approach the 400 case mark with 396 confirmed cases.  Wyandotte County is currently reporting 471.
