The Sedgwick County Health Department is warning of a potential texting scam related to the coronavirus.
Some residents have received text messages saying they have come in contact with someone who has the COVID-19 virus, and they are directed to fill out a survey at a link provided online.
County officials said this is a scam. The Health Department calls all potential close contacts of COVID-19 cases, and they would only use text messaging after verbal permission from a close contact. They will also never ask for personal information in an online survey.
Anyone receiving a scam text should take a screen shot and report it by sending it to covid19@sedgwick.gov
