Sedgwick County has reported its first death due to Covid-19.

The patient is a man over the age of 60 who had underlying health conditions.  Testing last week confirmed the man had contracted the virus and he had been hospitalized since the diagnosis.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of this individual,” said Chairman Pete Meitzner. “Our deepest condolences go out to his friends, family, and loved ones. As we navigate these rough waters together, I find myself grateful to serve such a resilient community. We continue to make the health of this community our top priority and ask that all citizens do what they can to help slow the spread of COVID-19, including please stay at home.”
