Royals Discussing Sale to Businessman John Sherman

According the ESPN and several other sources, Kansas City Royals owner David Glass is considering selling the team. The potential deal would be to John Sherman, who is a Kansas City native and partial owner of the Cleveland Indians. Sherman would divest himself of his share of the Indians to buy the Royals. The deal is said to be worth over $1 billion. Current owner David Glass, who made his fortune as a Wal-Mart executive, bought the team for $96 million in 2000. The sale could happen at the same time the team negotiates a new television deal. That deal could be worth $50 million a year, doubling the teams current local television rights.
