A suspect and police officer are dead following a shootout Sunday morning in Johnson County.
The incident started when a suspect driving a stolen vehicle struck a police car and fled from a QuikTrip at 95th Street and I-35 in Lenexa. Police chased the suspect to another QuikTrip at 47-hundred Lamar Avenue in Mission where shots were fired.
A suspect, 40-year-old Shannon Wayne Marshall of Ashland, Tennessee, died. Fairway police officer Jonah Oswald was critically injured and later passed away from his injuries. A second suspect, a 32-year-old woman from Goodlettsville, Tennessee, was taken into custody.
