The City of Wichita is offering ways for residents in need to escape hot temperatures that are expected to continue through the week.

Starting Wednesday, July 26th, residents can ride Wichita Transit for free until the end of the day on Saturday, July 29th.   The free, air-conditioned Q-Line has been operating Monday through Saturday from 6:15 a.m. to 11 p.m. with stops at the city museums and the Advanced Learning Library, which can also provide an escape from the heat.   Transit officials will decide Friday whether to continue offering free service.

The Wichita Public Library branches are also available, and the Neighborhood Resource Centers have water and air conditioning:

· Atwater, 2755 E 19th St N.

· Colvin, 2820 S Roosevelt St

· Evergreen, 2601 N. Arkansas

Park and Recreation centers can also offer a break from the heat, and a list of the centers can be found at wichita.gov/parkandrec   Recreation centers will be limited when they’re having kid summer camps.

Information on pools and splash pads can be found at wichita.gov/aquatics
