A man from Monterrey, Mexico who was accused of rape in Sedgwick County in 2007 made his first appearance in court Thursday.
41-year-old Roman Vela was arrested at the Mexican border in May, 2023.
Vela was formally charged with one count of rape stemming from a criminal complaint that accuses Vela of raping a child under 14 in December of ’07.
His bond is set at $1 million.
