The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says more than 30 letters have been sent to state lawmakers and other public officials with a suspicious white powder inside.

The KBU said law enforcement agencies are working to safely collect the letters.   The FBI is involved in the investigation, along with the Kansas Highway Patrol, The Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the State Fire Marshal, and several local police departments and fire departments.

No injuries have been reported, but people are urged to be careful in handling mail.

The KBI did not identify the officials who have received the letters, but one of the letters was sent to the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
