19-year-old Nathanial Ashworth and 20-year-old Alyna Elder have been identified as the victim who were killed in a head-on crash Sunday after a suspect involved in a police chase hit their vehicle.

Andover Police said a woman gave the 19-year-old male suspect a ride from Towanda and stopped at a Dollar General. While she was inside, the suspect stole her truck.

Officers attempted to stop the suspect near Kellogg and Andover Rd. and a chase began.  Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol were also involved in the pursuit.

The suspect later hit a guard rail and lost a tire near 63rd St. South but continued toward the Derby area, and that’s when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Ashworth and Elder were engaged to be marries, and were reported to be from areas within Butler and Sedgwick Counties. A GoFundMe page has been set-up by their families to help with funeral expenses, which you can view here.
