Kansas’s 6 public universities–which includes Wichita State University, Kansas, Kansas State, Emporia State, Pittsburg State, and Fort Hays State–are seeking to raise undergrad tuition.
The Kansas Board of Regents released a report Wednesday showing plans to hike tuition at these universities by 5-7% for the fiscal year 2024. This marks the first tuition hikes since 2019, which at that time ranged between 1.1.% to 2.8%.
The report shows 5% increases planned for KU, K-State, Emporia State and Pittsburg State, a 5.9% increase for WSU and a 7% hike for Fort Hays State.
The state universities cited inflation as the primary reason for the steeper hikes.
The Kansas Board of Regents is scheduled to vote on the issue in June.
