Letter carriers in Wichita will collect non-perishable food donations on Saturday, May 13th, as they deliver mail along their postal routes in the nation’s largest one-day effort to “Stamp Out Hunger”.

The 31st annual Letter Carriers Food Drive is being conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) with the assistance of letter carriers, postal employees and volunteers.

Specially marked blue collection bags will be distributed to area residential addresses.   Residents should leave non-perishable food donations – such as peanut butter, canned tuna or chicken, soup, canned beans, beef stew or chili, and canned fruits or vegetables – in a bag near their mailbox on Saturday before their letter carrier arrives. Glass containers and expired items should be avoided.  If a blue bag is not received, residents may simply use any paper or plastic bag to place their food in.

Monetary donations can be made online and are accepted here.
