A Wichita man was sentenced to 95 months in prison for a series of sexual assaults at Towne East.

On July 1, 2021, 28-year-old Andrew Jones grabbed two different women inside and outside of the mall. A third woman was later grabbed while unloading groceries from her car in an neighborhood south of the mall. That woman’s husband chased the suspect but was threatened with a knife.

A man matching the suspect’s description was spotted later in the day and ran from police. An officer chased the man for more than a mile before he ran into a home near Rock and Gilbert, just south of Kellogg. The suspect threatened to shoot the officer, so he waited for backup. More police arrived and entered the home, arresting Jones.

In March of this year, Jones pled no contest to attempted rape, two counts of aggravated
sexual battery, and criminal threat.

After serving time in prison, Jones will also serve lifetime post release and registration.
This means he will be monitored by the Department of Corrections for the rest of his
life. If Jones violates the conditions of release he will go back to prison.
