A man died from injuries sustained during a shooting Wednesday evening in southeast Wichita, and a suspect has been arrested
The shooting was reported in the Planeview neighborhood near S. Rutan Street and E. Sunnybrook Lane just after 7 p.m. Wichita Police said 31-year-old Chance Martin was walking on Sunnybrook when a black car pulled up next to him with two to three people inside. Police said a fight between the man and occupants of the vehicle led to the shooting, and it’s believed the fight may have concerned possible stolen property.
Police said they arrested a 24-year-old Wichita man in connection with the shooting. His vehicle was identified by witnesses and officers later used the FLOCK license-plate reading system to find the vehicle in the 900 block of West 47th Street South. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for a decision on charges.
