A man from southwest Kansas has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in a south Wichita neighborhood in late April.
34-year-old Micky Owens of Johnson City is charged with first degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm. Attorneys will talk about the case on May 15th. Owens is in jail on a bond of $750,000.
Owens is charged in the April 24th shooting death of 44-year-old Shawn Lahman of Wichita. Officers were called to the 1300 block of South Edwards and found Lahman in the front seat of a passenger van with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Owens drove to Wichita on the 24th, saw Lahman on South Edwards and shot him. He then fled to Stanton County, where he was arrested three days later. Police said Owens and Lahman knew each other and had an ongoing dispute.
