Butler County fire and rescue crews got two people out of a burning home Monday morning in Andover. One of them died later at a hospital.
The fire was reported around 10 a.m. at a home in the 600 block of West Allison. Crews got an elderly couple out of the home and officials at the scene said they may have been disabled or confined to a wheelchair. Smoke detectors were going off but the people inside were unable to get out.
An unidentified woman had critical injuries and she died later at a hospital. A man was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment and he was expected to be released soon.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with Andover Fire-Rescue to determine the cause of the fire.
