A man with ties to Kansas has been arrested for shootings that left four people dead and three injured in Maine.

Officials say four people were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a home on Augusta Road in Bowdoin, Maine on Tuesday. A short time later, three people were hit by gunfire on Interstate 295 in Yarmouth and one person is in critical condition.

Police later took 34-year-old Joseph Eaton into custody and he is in the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.  Police have not released a motive for the killings.

Eaton is reported to be a graduate of Maize High School and he was arrested for a burglary in Maize in 2008.  The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said he was sentenced to probation.

The victims at the home were identified as Eaton’s parents, 66-year-old David Eaton and 63-year-old Cynthia Eaton, of Ocala, Florida.   The other victims at the home were 72-year-old Robert Eger, Junior and 62-year-old Patti Eger.  The bodies were found at the Eger home.
