A Wichita woman has been sentenced to 12 months of probation for her role in the death of an infant boy last summer.

A judge gave the sentence to 26-year-old Xjohnna Hannah with an underlying sentence of seven months in prison with 12 months post release, if conditions of the probation are not met.

Hannah pleaded guilty in February to aggravated endangering of a child in connection with the death in July, 2022 of 20-month-old Lasiah Williams.   The boy was the son of Hannah’s boyfriend, 25-year-old Kentrell Willingham.   In March, a judge sentenced Willingham to 66 months in prison after a guilty plea to abuse of a child.

Police said the couple had been looking after the boy for a few days. They turned him over to a family member and a legal guardian, then it was discovered that the boy was unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors said first degree murder charges against Hannah and Willingham were dismissed after an autopsy failed to explain the cause of the child’s death.  The autopsy found several bruises on the child’s body, but there were “no notable internal injuries” that would have explained the death.
