Walgreens will not be mailing abortion medication in Kansas after getting a letter from Attorney General Kris Kobach.
After Walgreens and CVS announced plans to start mailing Mifepristone to patients across the country, Kobach alerted the pharmacies they would be in violation of federal and state law.
“This is a significant victory for the pro-life cause and for women’s health,” Kobach said. “The dispensing of these pills without a supervising physician present would expose women to complications and potentially to coercion as well. I’m grateful Walgreens has responded quickly and reasonably and intends to fully comply with the law.”
A response from Walgreens indicates they are working to become and FDA certified pharmacy, and that the approach to the mailing of abortion medications could change in the future. The full response from Walgreens can be read below.
