A 30-year-old Wichita man has been charged in connection with the theft of a car with two young children inside at a south side convenience store.
Tyler Kirkhart appeared in court Thursday to face two counts of aggravated endangerment of a child and one count of theft. His bond was set at $450,000 and attorneys will talk about the case on November 23rd.
Kirkhart was arrested after an incident at a Quik Trip store at 31st Street South and Seneca around 4 p.m. Monday. Police said a 26-year-old woman had stopped to put air in the tires of her vehicle and a man offered to help. The man then jumped into the car and drove away with the woman’s 3-year-old daughter and infant son inside. Police found the car abandoned in the 3500 block of South St. Francis, and the children were found unhurt.
A surveillance photo was released of the suspect, and Kirkhart was arrested later in the day in the 700 block of West Lockwood.
