Kansas voters are going to the polls for the midterm election, and they’re deciding races for governor, attorney general, U.S. Senate and congressional seats, and two amendments to the state constitution.

There are also races for state house and senate offices, and three Sedgwick County commission races are on the ballot.

Polls are open from 6 am to 7 pm. Over 75-thousand Sedgwick County voters have cast ballots in advance, in person or by mail. That’s a turnout so far of 22 percent.

Wichita Transit is providing free rides to help get voters to the polling places.

Turnout has been reported to be steady at polling places across Kansas.  The busiest times will be during the final three hours from 4 to 7 p.m.   Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Angela Caudillo says anyone who is in line when the polls close will be allowed to vote.

Caudillo said there are a number of items on the ballot, and it’s expected to take between 5 and 7 minutes to vote.  Polling places have sample ballots and information on the constitutional amendments.
