A former undersheriff from southern Kansas is on trial for the fatal shooting of a man with a homemade beanbag round in 2017.
Jury selection began Monday in the trial of Virgil “Dusty” Brewer, who was the undersheriff in Barber County. He is charged with reckless involuntary manslaughter in the October, 2017 death of 42-year-old Steven Myers. The shooting happened during a confrontation in Sun City.
The trial is being held in Kansas City, Kansas.
