Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said Monday that sports betting has generated a total of $1.3 million in total revenue in its first month, bringing in nearly $130,000 in revenue for the state of Kansas.

The governor said while legal sports betting is just in its infancy, the revenues will continue to grow and benefit the state over time.

For the month ending September 30th, the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane with the FanDuel platform has generated $207,722 in total revenue, with $20,772 for the state’s share.  The largest amount was $762,305 through the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City with the Barstool Sports platform.   The state’s share of the revenue was $76,230.    Kansas Crossing Casino in Pittsburg had a total of $326,147 in revenue, with the state getting $32,615.    No revenue was reported for the Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City.   The revenues are from settled and completed bets and do not account for future wagers like the Super Bowl, World Series or MVP awards.

The governor signed a bill in May to make it legal to wager on sports at casinos, on digital platforms and other venues in Kansas.   The sportsbooks opened on September 1st.
