Wichita Public Libraries will no longer charge overdue fees, so long as you are within 30 days of checking the items out.

The new initiative was approved within the City’s 2023, and goes into effect on Wednesday August 24th.

While those with Wichita Public Library accounts will no longer be accruing fines, library officials still stress the importance of returning overdue materials.

If checked-out items are not returned within 30 days of the due date, you will be responsible for paying for the cost of replacing the item as well as a $7 processing fee.

From September 26th to October 2nd, the library will host an “amnesty week,” during which anyone with long-overdue materials can return them and have the fees waived.
