A Kansas man is dead following a drowning at a Nebraska lake.
Authorities said 79-year-old Wayne Mathias of Augusta, Kansas, had been swimming about 100 feet offshore at a private lake south of Genoa, Nebraska, on Saturday when witnesses saw him call for help before vanishing underwater.
A dive team later recovered Mathias’ body, and the incident is still under investigation.
