The 2019 Kansas Department of Labor and Economic Summary Report are now available online. They contain highlights of the most important economic data for the state of Kansas and each the five local workforce areas. The full report will be released September 27th, 2019. Here are some of the highlights:
- 1.43 million Kansas residents were employed in 2018, an increase of 7,663 from 2017.
- From 2017 to 2018, the number of Kansans unemployed dropped by over 4,000 people, to 7.7%. This is the lowest number of unemployed people since 1999.
- Real average weekly wages grew by 3.2%.
- 17 of the top 20 highest paying jobs in May 2018 were management or healthcare practitioners and technical occupations.
- Civilian aircraft, engines, and parts were the most exported product from Kansas, accounting for $2.2 billion in sales.
