“Flurona” Case Reported in Kansas, Days After 1st Case Reported in Israel

An officials with the Fort Hays Medical Center reported Wednesday that a patient was in the ICU after being diagnosed with “Flurona.”

The term is now used to describe a patient who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and Influenza at the same time.

The first case of Flurona was reported in a pregnant woman in Israel on Thursday, Dec. 30th. Soon after, cases were reported in Florida, Texas, and Los Angeles.

The report on the Kansas case was delivered during a statewide COVID-19 crisis conference call Wednesday morning.

Recent cases of Flurona in the U.S. has been largely amongst children and teens.
