Moran, Marshall speak against vaccine mandate for businesses

Kansas senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall are involved in efforts to nullify President Biden’s vaccine mandate on private companies with 100 or more employees.

A move is underway to disapprove and nullify the mandate under the Congressional Review Act.   Moran said the decision to get vaccinated should be left to each individual in consultation with their doctors.   He called the mandate a clear overreach of executive authority that could worsen the labor shortages faced by private businesses in Kansas and across the country.   He is urging President Biden to eliminate the mandate.

Moran and Marshall are among the 50 Senate Republicans who have signed onto an amendment to deny funding for the mandate.

New government rules were issued Thursday by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration with regard to the mandate.   Companies that fail to comply could face penalties of nearly $14,000 per violation.    The new requirements will apply to about 84 million workers at medium and large businesses across the nation.
