A Wichita Man was sentenced this week for attacking his girlfriend in June.
39 year old Anthony Peete of Wichita was sentenced to 150 months in prison. Peete pleaded guilty to attempted second degree murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim on June 14th–a week before his trial was set to begin.
According to court documents, Peete was alleged to have choked his 22 year old girlfriend in the bathroom of their home in the 1400 block of N. Hillside on February 6th of last year. Peete wrapped a plastic bag around the woman’s head until she passed out. When she regained consciousness, Peete tried to suffocate her once again. She was able to keep her fingers between the bag and her throat and talk Peete out of his attack.
The victim was later transported to a hospital with a dissected carotid artery.
