Crews from Winfield and eight other fire departments were called to a fire Sunday that left extensive damage to the VFW building.
Winfield fire officials said the fire broke out shortly after 4:30 p.m. and the downtown building was evacuated.
A portion of the building collapsed as crews were working to bring the fire under control. There were no known injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
