A Kansas truck driver has been charged with second degree murder in connection with an April crash west of Emporia.

Charges were filed in Lyon County against 47-year-old Travis Edwards of Marysville.  The charges are from an April 5th crash on Highway 50 at Road C, about four miles west of Emporia.   The Kansas Highway Patrol said an eastbound semi driven by Edwards hit a westbound passenger car, causing it to spin into a second semi that was following Edwards.   Two other westbound vehicles were hit by Edwards’ semi.  The drivers of those two vehicles, 29-year-old Ryan Miller of Independence, Missouri and 32-year-old Jacob Suenram of Lawrence, were killed.

Edwards and the two people from the passenger car were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the crash.
