The Kansas Supreme Court said a “security incident” was causing problems Friday for information systems used by courts across the state.

The disruption affected the eFiling system used by attorneys to file documents in court cases, and the eCourt case management system used by district courts to process cases.

Courts across the state remained open, and they moved to paper filings while experts worked to determine what happened and how much was affected across the network.  The courts are operating on an administrative order that calls for paper filings, and an update is expected Monday.

The incident affected user access to a number of systems, including the Kansas District Court Access Portal, which allows the public to search district court case information.  The system for online marriage license applications was also affected.  People can still apply but the application will not be sent to a district court for processing through the efiling system.
