Wichita man pleads guilty to federal firearms charge

A Wichita man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

The plea was entered by 37-year-old Grant Lubbers, who was arrested in April, 2021 in Andover.   Prosecutors said Lubbers was under investigation for fentanyl trafficking and under the use of a search warrant, a backpack was found in his vehicle.   The backpack contained a gun, around 3,000 pills that later tested positive for fentanyl, and $22,000 in cash.

Lubbers is scheduled to be sentenced on November 29th, and he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
