Two suspects are facing a number of charges in Finney County after what started as a local landlord-tenant dispute blossomed into a state investigation into alleged human trafficking.

Local authorities say deputies arrested a 32-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman after both allegedly transported at least 29 people into Finney County for the purposes of labor. The immigrants allegedly had been working without pay in what were described as “poor” conditions at unspecified facilities in the county.

Volunteers were helping the immigrants, including some described as minors, secure work visas that would enable them to remain in the U.S. legally.
