Voters are going to the polls to advance candidates for mayoral, city council and school board races across Sedgwick County in a primary election on Tuesday.
Polls are open until 7 p.m.
In Wichita, voters have a mayor’s race and contests for City Council seats in Districts 2, 4 and 5. There is also an at-large seat on the Wichita school board. The top two candidates in each race will advance to the November 7th general election.
A voter turnout of around 10 percent was predicted for the primary. Early in-person voting ended at noon Monday.
The Sedgwick County Election Office reported more than 8,000 ballots that were cast in advance, for a turnout of 5.9 percent. There were around 7, 300 people who voted early in person at the Election Office or the satellite voting locations.
