The Wichita Ice Center has temporarily shut down and canceled its ice skating operations because of a problem with the ice chilling system.
The Center’s general manager, Sean O’Reilly, said hot temperatures this week have had an impact on the system, and compressors have been unable to maintain a safe temperature for skating. He said staff is working with experts to get the system back on line. He said there’s no timeline for that to happen, but he’s hoping the Center will be back open Saturday.
O’Reilly said customers and groups that use the Center have been notified of the problem.
