The American Red Cross of South Central and Southeast Kansas is urging the community to donate blood.
There has been a shortfall in blood donations in recent weeks. Donors of all blood types, especially those with type B negative or O negative blood, are needed.
The organization is hosting the 16th annual Wichita Red, White, and You Blood Drive. It will be July 5th through 7th at the Wichita Donor Center (707 S. Main St.) and the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center (7001 W. 21st St. N.)
Donation times:
- Wednesday, July 5th, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Thursday, July 6th, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Friday, July 7th, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Donors are especially needed at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center.
Donors will receive a T-shirt; a ticket to the Sedgwick County Zoo; an exclusive Red Cross dry bag, a Papa Murphy’s buy one, get one free coupon, and a Spangles coupon for a free vanilla waffle cone with purchase, while supplies last.

A blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
