The Kansas Highway Patrol said a chase with a shooting suspect from Butler County ended with a crash in northeast Wichita, and the suspect was killed.

Troopers were notified of a white 2008 Ford F-150 pickup that left the scene of a shooting incident near K-254 and Shumway.  A trooper spotted the pickup going west on 254 towards Sedgwick County, and a chase began.   A trooper used a tactical maneuver in the 5300 block of North Webb Road, and the truck hit a sign in a parking lot in the 5000 block of North Webb.   Butler County officials said a woman from Wichita was driving the pickup, and she was dead at the scene.

The victim of the shooting, a 44-year-old man from Blue Springs, Missouri, is reported to be in very critical condition, and that person was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.  The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting while the KHP is investigating the crash.
