AAA Kansas is projecting a record number of travelers in the state for the July 4th holiday weekend, and a record is also expected nationwide.

It’s expected that 50.7 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more over the weekend.  Domestic travel is expected to increase by 2.1 million people compared to last year.   This would surpass the previous record set for the July 4th weekend in 2019, which had 49 million travelers.

A record is also expected in Kansas, with more than 505,000 travelers making their trips by car, airplane or other modes of transportation.   Overall travel by Kansans is expected to increase by 3.9 percent compared to last year.   Nearly 429,000 people in Kansas are expected to travel on the roads, and that’s 85 percent of the total number of travelers.
