A Wichita man who was found guilty of murdering his twin brother and sister-in-law in 2015 has been sentenced.
33-year-old Luis Alvarado-Meraz was sentenced Thursday to life without parole after being found guilty in October, 2018 for the January 14th, 2015 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Manuel Alvarado-Meraz and 22-year-old Lucero Rodriquez.
Officials said that the delay in sentencing was the result of multiple post-trial motions which required evidentiary hearings over the course of several years. Ultimately, the Alvarado-Meraz’s motion for a new trial was denied–over four years after his 2018 conviction.
