The Wichita man fatally Wednesday night is identified as 30-year-old Kurel Hayes.
Officers got a shooting report around 10:36 p.m. and found the victim at a home in the 500 block of N. Gordon, near 2nd and Meridian. Hayes had a gunshot wound to his upper torso and was sent to a hospital in critical condition, where he later passed away.
No information on a suspect or motive has been released, but police say this was not a random incident. It’s believed that the suspect in this shooting is someone that Hayes knew.
