Wichita man arrested for murder of eight-year-old daughter

Wichita man arrested for murder of eight-year-old daughter

A 51-year-old Wichita man has been arrested for first degree murder and child abuse in connection with the death of his eight-year-old daughter.

Police said the girl was found dead on May 8th at a home in the 600 block of North Oliver.   Detectives from the homicide division and the Exploited and Missing Child Unit were called in to investigate, and they developed a homicide case.

A warrant was issued for the father’s arrest, and police used FLOCK technology to track his car and he was taken into custody hours after the warrant was issued.   Thomas Gatewood has now been charged with first degree murder, three counts of abuse of a child, four counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated endangering of a child, and aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim.   His bond was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 12th.
