Contract talks between Spirit AeroSystems and the Machinists Union continued through the weekend, with work being described as positive and constructive. Contract talks are set to resume today, which will continue to involve a federal mediator.
“We have been working hard and making good progress,” said Tom Gentile, President and CEOof Spirit AeroSystems. “We will continue discussions this week and remain committed to a timely resolution on a fair and competitive contract that addresses the priorities of our employees and other stakeholders.”
With no new agreement reached, a strike of union members continues. Employees have been picketing in front of Spirit AeroSystems, which has been impacting traffic in the area of Oliver and MacArthur. People who are not headed to Spirit are advised to avoid the area.
